Balme Talks
Understanding High Performance, Leadership, and asking the big questions with footy’s ‘Midas touch’, Neil Balme.

Neil Balme.
Neil Balme has been involved in professional Australian Football clubs since he was 16, playing against Bill Dempsey and Graham ‘Polly’ Farmer for Subiaco in the WAFL.
For more than 55 years, he has played, coached and run football departments across Richmond, Norwood, Melbourne, Collingwood, Geelong until his recent tenure returning to Richmond, the club he won two premierships with as a player. Most recently, he has taken up a role on the Adelaide Crows’ board as their Football Director.
Balme was viewed as a ‘Brute’ by some opposition supporters, but Richmond saw him as a leader, a protector and in Kevin Bartlett’s words, ‘a magnificent player’. His stature has grown with time, with Mike Sheehan declaring him the 16th greatest Richmond player in 2016.
Balme has been involved in eleven premierships during his time in footy, however it is his unique approach to leadership, administration, mentorship and coaching that has seen the former hardman of the Tigers become known as a pivotal calm, yet robust, influence on head coaches Mick Malthouse, Chris Scott, Nathan Buckley and Damien Hardwick, amongst many others across teams, clubs and codes.
With his wealth of experience and powerful speaking style, he’s ready to encourage, inspire and direct your club, business, or organisation on the key principles that lead to lasting achievement.
